4 Ways to Upgrade Your Hotel Spa Service

Your hotel spa is one place where your service can really shine. Here’s how to make it better.

Guests go to a hotel spa to relax, unwind, get pampered or spiff up for a special occasion. Upgrading your hotel spa in atmosphere, equipment and services can allow you to offer truly stellar spa services to your guests.

The global spa market is growing rapidly and is expected to reach $117.9 billion by the year 2028, according to a spa market report from Grand View Research. This growth is due to hectic urban lifestyles, increases in tourism and other factors, with hotel spas making up a sizable share of the market.

If you want to make your hotel spa stand out from the competition, it’s a good idea to look at trends, consider adding new equipment or services and refine your guest service. Here are four ways to upgrade your hotel spa experience:

1. Add new therapies

Hoteliers may want to make it a point to keep up on the latest spa trends and consider adding new and trendy types of services if it makes sense. One spa trend for 2022, according to the Day Spa Association: red light therapy. This non-invasive treatment involving the therapeutic use of red-tinted light may have beneficial effects for the skin by boosting circulation, collagen production and healing. “Because of the noticeable effective results after a few sessions, people have included this skin treatment service in their monthly pampering routines,” the Day Spa Association states.

2. Use artificial intelligence tech

Consider employing artificial intelligence (AI) and other technology to personalize and enhance the spa experience with wellness programs offered by physiotherapists and other qualified providers, according to a report on the top 10 global spa trends by EHL Insights. “These assessments can be made easier thanks to AI sub-products: fitness and body scanning machines and connected devices that allow the identification of many physical conditions,” EHL Insights states. “Connected health and the monitoring of the various test results will enable the personalization of preventive health programs. This type of personalization will be further strengthened as a key asset of hospitality.”

3. Offer spa excursions

Hoteliers may also want to expand their offerings beyond the walls of the spa to include excursions that take guests into a natural environment for a healing and renewing experience. Examples include: forest retreats, meditation journeys and sound bathing. “Away from the traditional packages offered by many spa and wellness centers that highlight only the wet and dry rooms, therapies and treatments, it’s a good idea to create more awareness of the advantages of mother nature via nature trails, wild nature therapy and outdoor massage for example,” EHL Insights states.

4. Incorporate precious metals and gems

Another popular spa trend in 2022: featuring precious metals and gemstones in spa treatments. These metals add a feeling of luxury and pampering, along with possible therapeutic benefits. Examples include: creams, scrubs, body wraps and other treatments that include diamonds, gold and other metals. “As these implementations use genuine precious metals upon skin application, it’s understandable why they’re a bit pricier than other treatments in the market.,” the Day Spa Association states.

It’s also a good idea to extend the spa to your restaurant and room service by keeping health and wellness in mind with your offerings. That means offering fresh and healthy fare and caterin g to a variety of special diets, from gluten-free to vegan. EHL Insights states: “Proper nourishment is a key factor of well-being. Employing or collaborating with a nutritionist will add more value to the offering.”
